DIMENSIONAL RANGE:

ISO 15649 doesn’t set its own dimensional scope. Since it operates as a normative wrapper around ASME B31.3, sizing is governed by whatever component standards B31.3 itself calls up, mainly the ASME B16 series for flanges and fittings. In practice this means no fixed upper or lower diameter limit at the code level: sizing is dictated by the pressure/temperature rating and the referenced product standard, not by ISO 15649 as such.

DESCRIPTION:

This is essentially the ISO “cover” of ASME B31.3.

it doesn’t reinvent process piping design, it explicitly incorporates ASME B31.3 as its normative basis and adds a handful of ISO-specific clauses (buried piping, some clearance and layout provisions).
