Specification, design, manufacture, and installation of GRP (fiberglass) piping. Firewater mains, seawater lift, produced water, ballast-adjacent systems, and general utility service, mostly offshore but also onshore.

DIMENSIONAL RANGE:

ISO 14692 doesn’t set a flat diameter ceiling, instead it constrains pressure and diameter together through the pressure-diameter product, which must stay below 12.62 bar·m. In practice this means the allowable design pressure drops as diameter increases: a 16 bar system must stay below DN750, while a DN1200 line must be designed below roughly 10.5 bar. Any diameter/pressure combination is technically admissible as long as that product isn’t exceeded, a detail worth checking early when a large-bore, higher-pressure GRP line is on the table.

We use this whenever GRP is on the material selection list for corrosion-sensitive services where carbon steel would need heavy corrosion allowance or coating

IMPORTANT NOTES:

It’s written primarily for offshore topside applications, but it’s also usable onshore. For GRP integrated into a ship’s or platform’s ballast/marine system, the standard itself recommends deferring to the hull/vessel certification body, while still using ISO 14692 “to the maximum degree attainable” as good practice a nuance worth mentioning early with the classification society.
